Driving from Grand Junction, I took US-50 East and watched the landscape slowly shift from open valleys to rugged mountain views. The first stretch along S 5th Street was quick — just a couple of minutes before the road opened into wider, scenic terrain. 

After about half an hour on US-50 E, the route began to wind through charming small towns and stretches of farmland. I followed G50 Road and then G Road, passing through Delta, where the air started to feel crisper and the mountains inched closer with every mile.

How Long Is the Hike to Ouray Hot Springs?
